Shocks & Struts
Shocks and struts are an essential part to the ride and control of your vehicle. The shocks and struts in your vehicle serve a few purposes, the main one being to reduce the effect of the springs on your vehicle. By doing this, they keep your wheels in constant contact with the ground, greatly improving your control of the vehicle. Because they are a part of the complex suspension system, they tend to wear over time. You should have the shocks and/or struts inspected at least once a year. This inspection usually occurs the same time you receive a wheel alignment.
At Tire Factory we will inspect your shocks and struts during your wheel alignment, or upon request. If you have noticed a decrease in the handling of your vehicle, irregular bouncing or rocking back and forth, it is time to have your shocks and struts inspected. It is very important to catch wear on these components before you’re on the road and they fail; it can lead to loss of control and possibly a terrifying accident. Wear on shocks and struts are not something that is repaired, they need to be replaced in pairs to maintain the safety and control of your vehicle.
You may be interested in gas-charged shocks and struts that we will be able to help you select and install. These gas filled shocks last longer and amplify the performance of regular shocks due to the fact that they are designed to reduce foaming of the liquid inside. Foaming can greatly hinder shock performance and vehicle control.
Although shocks and springs have direct correlation, replacement of shocks and struts does not make up for the shortcomings of worn springs. It is a good idea to have your springs replaced by our technicians at the time of shock/strut replacement. We offer full shock and strut service at our Tire Factory location including replacement and installation.
